Coastal Explorers: Science of Sailing

July 14-18

Students aged 10-12 years         8:30am-3:30pm

See Cape Ann through the eyes of a sailor during this week-long camp at Maritime Gloucester and aboard the Schooner Ardelle! Discover the science of sailing a traditional fishing schooner, learn what it takes to navigate without using modern-day technology, and figure out how to work as a team to get to your destination. During this program, students will participate in exciting hands-on marine science and maritime heritage explorations both on land and at sea!

Wet & Wild Habitats

July 28-August 1

Students aged 7-9 years         8:30am-3:30pm

$520* non-members / $450 members

Learn about the natural marine world around us as we dive into a week-long adventure of discovery, observation, and exploration!

Each day participants will focus on a different habitat found along the shores of Cape Ann and witness the biodiversity of species found there. From the rocky coast to the mucky marsh, animals and plants survive and thrive right in our watery backyard.

This camp is great for kids who are curious, love to be outside, and are happy getting their hands dirty!

Feeding Frenzy

August 11-15

Students aged 8-10 years         8:30am-3:30pm

$570* non-members / $500 members

From the rays of the sun fueling algae to sharks having a fishy meal, learn all about how energy moves through and connects living things in and around our planet’s oceans.

 

Each day participants will focus on a different tier of the vast and complex marine food web and learn about feeding tactics, discover unique adaptations for survival, and witness the circle of life in action. Students will also participate in a whale watch.
