ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE PROMOTION WORKSHOP

Maritime Gloucester was pleased to host an environmental compliance workshop designed for boat yards, marinas, yacht clubs, harbormasters and boat owners

This was a unique opportunity to meet regulators and marine professionals and share information about:

  • Clean Water Act compliance
  • Industrial Discharge permitting requirements
  • Pollution Prevention

Attendees gained valuable knowledge of Best Management Practices and available technologgies. Click on the files below for infomation about the agenda, presentations, compliance and boat owner stewardship (such as washing your boat and picking the right paint).

Boat owners and interested parties are welcome to come to Maritime Gloucester's and see our new exhibit "Under the Waterline; The Understated Story of Bottom Paint" which tells the story of the development, in Gloucester, of copper-based bottom paint, the importance of a clean hull, the unintended consequences of early bottom paints, and the recent development of bottom paints that incorporate green chemistry and nanotechnology leading to reduced environmental impacts from the use, and cleaning, of these anti-fouling paints. Environmental compliance and stewardship resources for boat owners, marinas, yacht clubs and boat yards are available on an interactive touch table as part of the exhibit.
