Teamwork and exploration are the themes of the week-long Lobster Tails program on the working waterfront of Maritime Gloucester. Participants will work with an expert craftsman, commercial lobster fisherman, and marine biologist to explore the life of a lobster and lobsterman. Wood-working is a traditional skill that remains important on today’s harbor. Participants will learn woodshop safety and use of tools, while constructing a traditional wooden lobster trap. The culture and life of Gloucester Harbor, with emphasis on the lobster fishery, will be explored to understand the effort it takes to have a delicious lobster dinner. Participants will also study the biology and ecology of this important seafloor creature. If you like working with your hands and learning from experts, join us for a challenging week of Lobster Tails.
