    Marine Technology and Robotics

    Monday, June 27, 2016, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm through Friday, July 8, 2016

    Registration : $700 Non-member / $650 MG members + $100 (to take home ROV)

    Audience: Ages 12-16

Design and build an underwater robot, observe scientists using robots and other technology to research and conserve the ocean, deploy technology to explore the harbor, and explain the importance of technology in understanding the marine environment.  Participants in this two week course (9 days – no class on July 4) will work side-by-side with marine scientists to build a marine remotely operated vehicle (ROV) and use the ROV to study Gloucester Harbor and complete a challenge.  Scientists from Ocean Alliance will join us to demonstrate the use of technology in their world-class research and provide expertise consulting on ROV design and application.  We will also visit the – very cool – Ocean Alliance lab at the historic Paint Factor on Gloucester Harbor.  This challenging two week course is the ultimate experience in hands-on building of cutting-edge marine technology.
